Different Association Theory

The Differential Association Theory looks at the process of learning deviance from others with whom they have close relationships, who provide role models of and opportunities for deviance. Edwin Sutherland conducted his work during the 1930's to the 1970's. His assumptions he mentions are common because he says delinquent behavior is learned, and biology has no role in this behavior, delinquent behavior is learned through verbal and non-verbal communication examples are watching your dad steal a TV, your peers congratulating you on stealing a bicycle, children learn these behaviors in small groups, in essence in social gatherings and groups, learning involves attitudes about the targets of crime, if definitions that favor criminal behavior outnumber definitions that favor conforming to laws, children will learn to be deviant; the frequency, duration, and intensity of the learning experiences determines the learning. Children who are exposed more frequently, at a young age, and by someone they admire and respect, are more likely to learn delinquent behavior, this learned behaviors are the same ways we learn all and other behaviors, the goals of criminals and non criminals are the same; the means to achieving goals are what is different. 

All over the country we are facing delinquency, and yet, these behaviors are taught. If the United States, provided the same opportunities, education, well paying jobs, among other things, I doubt that anyone, would want to commit any crime. The continues perpetration of behavior is what is causing people especially poor people to commit these crimes. Instead of punishing them, why don't they help them with economic, social, opportunities. There is too many poor people and as we have seen in many different cities across our nation, people are fed up with the inequality.
